# How we use AI in WordPress to create content and design pages

A practical look at using saved business information, design references and plain-English instructions to create and improve WordPress content.

IN THIS ARTICLE

1. Business context
2. Drafting content
3. Design references
4. Review and publishing

We have been building a way to write content and design pages without leaving WordPress. Describe what you need, review the result, then ask for changes in plain English.

The tool behind this is **WP Core AI**, an internal plugin we use at 4Property and provide to our clients. Its controls are available to website administrators.

Over the past few days, we have been working on the practical details. Keeping the design consistent between pages. Giving the AI useful information about a business. Choosing images. Making it clear when a conversation will change the website.

Small things, but they make the difference between an interesting demo and something useful.

01

## Start with useful business information

We start with information about the business. Who the content is for, which services the business offers, where it operates and how it should sound.

These details go into saved **Site and Client Instructions**, which accompany each content request. We can also attach reference material, such as a brand guide or a document explaining a service.

This saves repeating the same background every time we need a page.

For an estate agency, the instructions might explain which areas it covers and how it speaks to sellers. They can also include guidance for particular topics: use certain terms when discussing valuations, mention locations where relevant, avoid claims the business cannot support.

The instructions guide the writing. We still read the result.

02

## Give the AI a specific job

A useful request could look like this:

> CONTENT REQUEST
>
> Write a blog post explaining how homeowners can prepare for a property valuation. Use our saved business information and a straightforward tone. Include practical preparation advice. Do not invent prices, statistics or promises.

That gives us a first draft to work with. We can then ask for a shorter introduction, a clearer explanation or a different emphasis.

“Make it better” leaves plenty of room for interpretation. “Shorten the introduction and explain what the homeowner should have ready” gives the AI a specific job.

The same approach works for page design.

> PAGE DESIGN REQUEST
>
> Create a property management service page using the attached service information. Include an introduction, a clear explanation of what is included, common questions and a contact section. Keep the layout easy to read on a phone.

WP Core AI creates a draft and opens it in Chat with a preview. We can review the wording and layout together, then request changes.

For example:

- “Make the introduction shorter.”
- “Put these service cards into two columns.”
- “Give this section more space.”
- “Make the contact button easier to find.”

There is also a **Select element** tool in the preview. We can click a particular heading or section and attach it to the next instruction. That makes “change this heading” more precise.

03

## Keep pages visually consistent

**Getting one page right is only part of the job.** The next page needs to look like it belongs on the same website.

For that, we use design references.

We can create a sample blog layout or service page, mark it as a design reference, and select it when working on other content. The sample can stay as a draft. It does not need to appear on the public website.

The reference gives the AI an example of the fonts, colours, spacing and recurring elements to follow. The new page keeps its own subject and wording.

A request might be:

> DESIGN REFERENCE REQUEST
>
> Follow the selected service page’s layout and colours. Use the supplied information about lettings, and keep the contact section in the same position.

We can also choose a default design source for the site. Individual pages can use a different reference when needed.

One detail matters here: a design reference is guidance. If every service page must contain a particular sentence or contact link, we put that requirement in the saved instructions too.

04

## Discuss first, apply changes when ready

Chat has separate modes for discussing work and applying it:

- **Ask**answers questions about the page without changing its content.
- **Plan**proposes changes so we can review the approach.
- **Agent**applies requested edits and saves them.

This is useful when a page needs more thought. We can ask what is unclear, develop a plan, and apply it when ready.

**Agent edits save immediately. On a published page, those changes are immediately live.** For a new page, we work through the draft before publishing. When content revisions are enabled, Restore lets us return to an earlier version.

05

## Images and publishing settings stay separate

Images and publishing settings have their own controls.

We choose categories, the theme’s page template and the featured image in the **Post settings** panel. The featured image is the main image associated with the post or page, selected from the WordPress Media Library.

Supported external images included in generated content can also be imported into the Media Library when Core AI saves the content. Successfully imported images then use local website addresses. If an import fails, the original address remains and the plugin shows a warning.

Finding a suitable image still needs care. An image must exist, fit the subject and be suitable for us to use. AI search does not guarantee that.

06

## Review before publishing

Once the draft is ready, we check the content and open the full preview. We look at the mobile layout, test links and buttons, and check any interactive sections. Then we choose the final settings and publish.

We still check business facts and remove the occasional paragraph that says plenty without saying anything. AI is quite capable of writing those.

The useful part is having a draft we can work on, with the business information and design reference already available. From there, we can spend our time deciding what the page should say and whether it does the job.
