4pm brings you the latest news from the Irish commercial property market: The leading accountancy company KPMG is currently seeking new office headquarters in the city centre and accepting proposals for 2017. Anyone interested in auctioneering will know that it has been some years since the last new office construction project in Dublin, to be exact: It has been 5 years.
This announcement will certainly be a push for the stagnant Dublin office market. The company requires up to 200,000sq ft, as its lease on its main office block at Stokes Place, at the junction of Harcourt Street and St Stephen’s Green, will expire by the middle of 2017. Furthermore, it would be more convenient for the company to have all their 1600 employees based in one building instead of two as it has been the case up to now.
Declan O`Reilly of HT Meagher O`Reilly consults KPMG about all relevant decisions in relation to its undertaking. Areas on which the company will definitely consider are: three acres next to State Street Bank in the south Dublin docklands; Spencer Dock where there are any number of options after the collapse of Treasury Holdings and a nearby plot previously owned by Liam Carroll’s Zoe Group.
That’s all from 4pm! Enjoy the rest of the sun!
